MTP takes on for Telefónica the largest Software Quality project in Europe

  • The telecom operating service has chosen the Spanish consultancy firm as an only provider in testing and software implementation.
  • The agreement, signed for a period of three years extendable to four, will suppose one of the most ambitious bets on Software Quality made till this day by a Spanish company.

6th of April 2010-MTP: MTP the Spanish specialsed software quality management firm announces that they have been selected by Telefónica España as only provider to develop testing and deployment services of mobile and steady systems of the Spanish telecom operator. The agreement signed with Telefónica will become the largest project of Software Quality achieved up to date in Europe.

MTP is the first Spanish company to achieve the ISO 9001 certification for their “Factory Testing” services. Their capacity to develop their services on a world wide scale and to innovate their operation models have been key factors for becoming the only providers for this telecom operating company.

MTP has, since 1998, carried out Software Testing Services for Telefónica. These services have been operated with MTP´s equipment as well as with shared equipment with other providers. Within these years this has contributed to develop the concept of testing in multinational environments, collaborating in the definition of methods and procedures, imparting training in procedures and carrying out test tool management, amongst other functions. With the new agreement MTP reinforces more so their relation with the telecom operating company.

Juan Manuel Ferrer, CEO at MTP, states that: "Our relation with Teléfonica lasts now ten years and signing this agreement represents to us the recognition of a well done service. The specialisation, industrialisation, management and operation models tested and the complete independence of our company in front of any tendency or technological provider are factors that our clients value more and more resulting fundamental in our activity when it comes to guarantee reliable results."

The cost reduction, the timing improvement to reach the market and the risk mitigation are the three fundamental benefits that are allowing software quality services to grow aggressively in the market, as recent studies indicate by IDC Analyst. Mistakes caused by low quality software are more frequent then it might seem at first sight: an error in the display system of a cash machine that doesn’t allow you to withdraw money; lost or delayed luggage derived from airport system management failure a wrong number in a phone bill are some of the problems in practical software quality examples.

On behalf of being able to assume the growing demand of testing outsourcing that the Spanish market is experimenting, MTP has started this year a new Testing Factory with which it will reach 700.000 hours of specialized services, incrementing their capacity to 75%” says Ferrer.
